El control del tono en los tocadiscos suele ser un fader vertical que tiene por arriba una escala en positivo y por abajo su imagen especular en negativo pasando por el cero que es el que marca el tono natural de las cosas. Las voces se vuelven mas graves cuando se disminuye la velocidad creando un ambiente solemne, como de una situación que se agrava peligrosamente. Es un ritual de paso, de cambios de estado a través del punto cero que funciona como un espejo.
